JAMMU, Sept 4: Inter Collegiate Badminton (M&W) Tournament 2017-18 got underway in the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here today.
Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammuinteracted with the players and advised them to play the game in true spirit so that every individual gets opportunity to express their skills.
Among others present on the occasion were Sumnesh Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Sanjay Verma, Anil Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Vikas Karlopia and Tanvir Ahmed.
In women’s section, GCW Udhampur defeated GDC Hiranagar by 2-0 and ASCOMS thrashed GDC Samba by 2-0, while in men’s section, GDC Hiranagar beat SPMR College by 3-0, GDC Kathua trounced GDC Samba by 3-0 and GCET outplayed IDS Sohera by 3-2.
All the matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Taran Pal Singh, Rakesh Verma, Pushap Thakur and Manmohan Sharma.
The Tournament is being organized by the Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
