JAMMU, Oct 15: Inter-College Sports Meet, being organised by the Dogra Group of Colleges got underway with aplomb and spirit, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest for the day, Thakur GS Charak, former Minister, Founder and Chairman Dogra Educational Trust emphasized that sports and education are the two sides of same coin.
Earlier, the programme started with the welcome address by Principal Dogra Law College.
The chief guest administered the oath of sportsmanship to the players followed by the release of balloons in presence of other dignitaries.
The Badminton and Volleyball inaugural matches were played under the guidance of the college Physical Instructor, Anuradha and the sports conveners of all the three colleges.
The students of all the three colleges participated in various sports events like 50 mtrs race, 100 mtrs race, lemon spoon race, 200 mtr race, thread needle race, tug of war, kabaddi, badminton and volleyball. The Second day will witness teams fighting for titles in events like Kho- Kho, Badminton, Table Tennis and Chess. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak (Secretary, DET), Prof VP Magotra, Principal Dogra Law College, Vikesh Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education, Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College, Shefali Sharma Academic Coordinator Dogra College of Education and Komila Agarwal Vice-Principal, Dogra Law College.
