JAMMU, Feb 25: When one enters the prominent sports stadiums in the Country like Mohali, Wankhade and likes, one watches plants, green trees and lush green grass, adding colour to the already existing sports infrastructure in these complexes and making them more graceful, or in other words like paradise to lure young sportspersons towards them, however, it is contrary in J&K, where the insanitary condition, coupled with dusty ground surface and dirt makes sports complexes health hazards not only for the players, but also for the morning walkers, rather than catering to the needs of young sportspersons.
One observes heaps of garbage, polythene and soil mounds in and around MA Stadium and many other sports complexes in the city.
Sources said despite strict instructions served by the Sports Ministry with regards to cleanliness and other allied things, the custodians of these complexes hardly moved even an inch to take initiatives and clean the area to not to leave the budding sportspersons and morning walkers into the lurch.
“We get irritated to see the condition of MA Stadium during morning walk in the wee hours as the atmosphere is polluted with insanitary conditions. The conditions are going to adversely affect our health,” said a morning walker while expressing anguish over the condition.
While talking to EXCELSIOR, a bunch of parents of young sportspersons feared ill health of their wards because of dirty conditions.
While terming the stadium a health hazard, they appealed to the Government for betterment of the conditions at an earliest.
They further said that those who are at the helm of affairs are least concerned about cleanliness and other allied things and some of them are enjoying abroad from months together.
