MACAU, May 15:
The Indian wushu team delivered a commanding performance at the 11th Sanda World Cup, winning two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
The women athletes, in particular, put up a stellar display by securing both gold medals from the six-member contingent, underlining the positive impact of the Asmita Khelo India Women’s League.
In the women’s 75kg category, Border Security Force athlete Shivani defeated her Russian opponent to clinch the gold medal with an impressive display of skill and determination.
Aparna also produced a brilliant performance in the 52kg category to secure India’s second gold medal.
Both athletes had earlier won silver medals at the World Wushu Championships in Brazil, but this time they showed remarkable improvement by converting their previous silver-medal finishes into gold at the Sanda World Cup. (PTI)
