Indian Army lifts Ice Hockey C’ship 2020

LEH, Feb 9: Indian Army’s Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre (LSRC) Red team lifted Khelo India Ice Hockey championship 2020 (Men) trophy by defeating ITBP in final match by a score of 3-2 goals at NDS New Ice Hockey Rink, here today.
Deputy Commissioner / Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest.
The tournament which started on January 30, was organised by District Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club, Leh. 13 teams participated in the first ever Khelo India Ice Hockey championship.
In the final match, both the teams played three rounds, in each round 30 minutes time was given. In second round ITBP got lead by one goal and in final and third round Indian Army scores a nail biting two consecutive goals in the last minute and bagged the overall trophy.
During the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the participating teams and thanked the organizers for organising such event in the region.
He further said that the district administration will take every step to groom Ice-Hockey players in the region. Later DC Leh distributed prizes among winner and runners-up teams and also honoured Ismail, a player of ITBP by giving Rs 5000 for his best performance in the tournament.
