IGP Jammu inaugurates District Sports Festival

JAMMU, Nov 16: District Level Sports Festival-2017under the aegis of Civic Action Programme under-19 years was inaugurated by IGP, Jammu Dr SD Singh at MA Stadium, here.
The events included Tug of War, Discuss Throw, Short Put and 100 Meter Race. 24 teams from different schools participated in the events.
Tug Of War: Winner (Girls team) Girls High School Shastri Nagar, runners-up (Girls team) Mahant Ram Lakhan Dass Public School.
Winner (Boys team) SRML Higher Secondary School Jammu, runners-up (Boys team)Dogra High School Jammu.
100 Meters Race girls, Shikha Sharma of GGHS School Channi Himmat, Varsha of GGHS School Mubarak Mandi and Mehvish of GGH School Nagrota were declared as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in boys, Ayush Koul, Arya Mahajan and Mahesh Partap Singh were declared as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
10 technical experts/referees from the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K were engaged during the events. The trophies and participation certificates were given to the Winner/Runner up players to boost their morale.
The aim and objective of the event was to engage youth in sports and channelize their energy in a positive, constructive way and to keep them away from social evils and ensure better coordination between police and general public. The winners of each game will further participate in Range Level Sports festival, which will be held in the month of December 2017.
Rafiq-ul-Hassan, IPS, DIG JKS Range, Jammu was the guest of honour and Haji Mirza Hussain, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports Jammu was special guest on the occasion.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta, while Rajesh Gill, Chief  Prosecuting Officer is the coordinator of the event.
