IGP Jammu inaugurates Cricket match between ASCOMS & GMC

JAMMU, Dec 6: A friendly Cricket match between the faculties of ASCOMS & GMC Jammu was organized in the sports ground of ASCOMS & Hospital, here today.
The match was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range and the guest of honour on the occasion was Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal, GMC Jammu. Among others present on the occasion were DK Batra, Joint Secretary, Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, Dr Dinesh Gupta, Chairman, Sports, GMC Jammu and Dr RK Gupta, Vice Chaiurman, Sports & Cultural Activities ASCOMS.
The two teams were introduced to the chief guest before the start of the match. ASCOMS won the toss and elected the bat. ASCOMS scored 140 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 15 overs with Dr Ravinder Gupta being the highest scorer with 35 runs, while Dr Gurpreet scored 22, Dr Manmeet 16 and Dr Hardeep, Dr Vikas and Dr Ajay Bhat scored 15 runs each.
From GMC side, Dr Rajandeep fielded excellently and took three splendid catches on the boundary, while Dr Vishal Tandon took three wickets.
Chasing the total of 140 runs, GMC team scored 98 runs and lost the match by 42 runs. Dr Rajesh Sharma scored 41 runs and Dr Rajandeep scored 23 runs.
Dr Hardeep Singh from ASCOMS team was declared as man of the match.
In the team from both sides, female doctors also participated and Dr Bawana Raina, Dr Shalini Sobti, Dr Meeta Gupta and Dr Chandpreet played in the team of ASCOMS while as Dr Sapna Gupta, Dr Sharminder Kour and Dr Rachna Sabharwal played in the team of GMC Jammu.
