IGP Jammu bats for promoting sports in J&K

JAMMU, June 26: Commending KC Sports Club for promoting games and sports among youth by providing world class indoor sports and fitness facilities, IGP Jammu, Dr SD Singh Jamwal advocated for developing sports culture among the youth of the State.
Dr Jamwal batted for promoting games and sports during an impressive and well attended  function organized by KC Sports Club to formally inaugurate the ongoing Inter-Club Cricket Tournament open.
He said, KC Sports Club in its missionary zeal to support and promote sports culture in the State of Jammu & Kashmir has launched an Inter-Club Cricket tournament being played on the natural turf which has been newly laid to give the cricketers of the State ideal playing conditions.
Dr SD Singh, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest said that the Club has the distinction of having its ultra-modern Gym, indoor Swimming Pool, a spacious indoor Cricket Hall, international standard Squash courts and well fitted and fully air-conditioned spaces for various games and wellness & health related activities such as Table Tennis, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Rock Climbing, Creative Dance and even Theatre.
Dr Jamwal was accompanied by Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI and Vice Chairman J&K State Sports Council Jammu as guest of honour and Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA as the special guest.
Managing Director of the Club Arjun Chowdhary expressed his gratitude to Dr. Singh for sparing his valuable time to inaugurate the tournament and for boosting the morale of the young cricketers with his inspiring presence.
Earlier, in the first match played today, RCC Srinagar defeated Friends Cricket Club by 17 runs in an easy contest.
RCC skipper Puneet Wattal won the toss and decided to bat first on a true cricketing surface.
Batting first, RCC scored a decent total of 160 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Musaif Ajaz was the top scorer with 53 runs, while Ishan and Manjeet Singh contributed 37 and 24 runs tot the total respectively. From FCC, Vimal Raina took 3 wickets.
FriendS Cricket Club in reply managed to score 143 runs to lose the matches by 17 runs. .Madhav Sharma, Sidharth and Mohit made 46, 32 and 21 runs respectively. From RCC Srinagar, Manjeet Singh and Puneet Wattal took 2 wickets each.
In another match, KC Sports Club Juniors trounced YWCC by 16 runs in a tough contest.
KCSC Juniors winning the toss and batting first scored a good total of 188 runs in the allotted 20 overs.Yudhvir Singh, Ashish and Zorawar Singh made 47, 39 and 23 runs respectively. From YWCC, Panku and Ronak took 3 wickets each.
While chasing the target, YWCC managed to score 172 runs, thus lost the match by 16 runs. Vishu top scored with 59 runs, while Rahul contributed 33 runs to the total. From KCSC Juniors, Yudhvir Singh, Aryan Mahajan and Rajeev Singh (Rocky) took 2 wickets each.
