JAMMU, May 22: A Solo Singing Competition focused on Indian folk music, organised by the Jammu Sahodaya Schools was held at IDPS Akhnoor, here today.
The students of 16 CBSE schools from Samba, Nagrota and Jammu participated in the competition.
The event was graced by Dr. Vikesh Kaur, President JSSC & Principal Doon International School, Jammu, as the chief guest, and Geeta Sharma, Principal APS Akhnoor, as the guest of honour.
Pooja Devi, a faculty member at IDPS Akhnoor, served as the overall anchor for the event.
The judges for the competition were renowned musicians Deepak Raghuvanshi and Ravi Raghuvanshi.
The first position was shared by Varun Bhagat from Jammu Sanskriti School and Memoona Choudhary from APS BD Bari.
The second position was secured by Aaniya Jha from Doon International School, Jammu.
The third position was shared by Rishu Gupta from Dewan Badrinath Vidya Mandir, Amarvilla, and Arnav Slathia from APS Nagrota.
The winners of the consolation prizes were Kanchan from APS Kaluchak, Harshita from SNS Vidya Mandir, and Niharika from MHS DAV Public School, Akhnoor.
The event was a grand success, celebrating the rich heritage of Indian folk music and showcasing the talent of young singers from various schools.
Distinguished guests included Chairman of IDPS Akhnoor, Satpal Sharma, Managing Director Dr. Dheeraj Jamwal Sharma, Principal KCS Mehta, Vice-Principal Vinay Khajuria, and Headmistress Anchal Gupta.
