Ibex Salapi emerges champion as 7th Spring Archery Tournament concludes

ZANSKAR, Apr 15: 7th Spring Archery Tournament 2019, organised by the LBA Youth Wing Zanskar, under the theme ‘Separate District and separate Assembly seat for Zanskar Sub-Division’ concluded here today.
In continuation with solidarity with the movement for the Separate District and Separate Assembly, seat for Zanskar Sub- Division, LBA Youth Wing Zanskar organized an Archery competition at Maney Ringmo Padum, here.
52 teams from the Zanskar Sub-Division participated in the tournament and all the team members unanimously agreed to submit and sign a memorandum in favour of separate District and separate Assembly seat for Zanskar Sub-Division to the Governor, Jammu and Kashmir through the office of ADO/SDM Zanskar.
The competition also served as a launching pad to organize a signature campaign in favour of separate District and separate Assembly seat for the Zanskar Sub-Division, which was signed by around 900 signatories and all the signatories unanimously pledged to fight for the cause.
The concluding ceremony of the tournament was presided over by Officer Commanding, Army Camp, Padum as the chief guest, while Assistant Director Tourism, Tundup Namgyal was the guest of honour. SHO, Rigzin was the special guest and the President of Muslim Association Zanskar was also present to grace the occasion.
President of LBA, Youth Wing Zanskar pointed out that Zanskar deserves to be upgraded to the district status, as it is more than 250 kilometer from its administrative headquarter, which is unique in the entire country.
LBA General Secretary, Nawang Tashi also spoke on the occasion and stressed on the importance of separate District and separate Assembly seat for Zanskar Sub-Division.
In the end, a prize distribution ceremony was held during which the chief guest of the event presented the awards/trophies to the winning team and the 1st and 2nd runners-up teams of the tournament.
The winning team in addition to coveted trophy was awarded 25,000 in cash while the 1st runners-up team was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 19,000 and the 2nd runners-up team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 13,000 and a trophy.
Ibex Salapi emerged as the champion in the 7th Spring Archery tournament 2019, while The King Chorala Yulsum and Ngari Zangla stood as the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
