SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Hundreds of aspiring cricketers turned up for the Downtown Champions League (DCL) selection trials for the Srinagar district at Islamia College Ground, here today.
The hopefuls started to make their way to the ground early in the morning in their bid to impress six-member panel selection committee headed by former first class cricketer Nisar Ahmad Khanday.
Bowlers could be seen lined up for on top of their bowling marks and batters taking guard to make their statement with their skill level and talent and watchful eye of selectors were glued to make sure deserved cricketers are picked up.
Having got a similar response during Ganderbal trials, DCL organizers will take trials to Anantnag district today.
DCL organizers were more than happy with the turnout and intend to provide the cricketers much needed boost to help them showcase their cricketing skills.
“We are more than happy, infact very surprised to see the kind of response we have seen here. Cricketers came in hordes to be part of the trials and we would make sure that deserved candidates are selected,” Naseer Ahmad chief organizer DCL said of the unprecedented response.
The selectors were particularly impressed with the talent on display. “I am so happy with the talent. Be it bowling or batting, we seem to have talent in abundance and players are eager to have platform to exhibit their talent,” Khanday said.
