JAMMU, Aug 20: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the semifinals today, HSS Jourian and HSS Pallanwalla sealed berth in the finals of Under-19 boys Kabaddi and Volleyball and will lock horns with each other in the summit clash at Govt High School Jourian, here tomorrow.
This 3-day Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cricket and Wrestling, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr Kusum Chib, Tehsildar Jourian in an impressive function, here today.
Headmaster GHS Jourian, Sham Lal Shastri was the guest of honour.
The Tournament is being conducted under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lavished praise on the organizers for organizing the mega event and said that sports serves for delight for ornament and for agility.
Earlier, Veer Ji Bhat, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Jourian presented welcome address and gave brief report of the Tournament.
In Kabaddi, HSS Pallanwalla beat HSS Pargwal by 18 points, HSS Dhakkar defeated HSS Khour by 12 points and HSS Jourian drubbed HSS Dhakkar by 5 points, while in Volleyball, HSS Dhakkar trounced HSS Kharah by 2 sets, HSS Pargwal beat HSS Khour by (2-1) sets, HSS Pallanwalla outplayed HSS Pargwal by (2-1) sets and HSS Jourian beat HSS Dhakkar by 2 sets.
In Wrestling, Yuvraj Singh of HSS Pallanwalla defeated Amit Singh in 55 kg category, while in Cricket, HSS Jourian got better of HSS Pallanwalla by 6 wickets and Jagrati Shiksha KENDRA Khour drubbed HSS Kharah in an easy contest.
The Inter-School competitions in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball Under-19 boys concluded at Govt HSS Akhnoor today.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of zpeo Akhnoor, Anju Gupta and ZPEO Chouki Choura.
Baljit Singh, Principal HSS Akhnoor was the chief guest on the occasion.
In Kho-Kho final, HSS Akhnoor defeated St Francis HSS by 15 points, while in Kabaddi, HSS Narrari Bela trounced GHSS Akhnoor by 10 points, while in Volleyball GHSS Akhnoor was awarded a walkover.
At Jammu zone, in Volleyball Under-19 boys, Govt HSS Sarwal lost to SRML HSS by (2-0), hss Muthi beat GHSS Dansal by (2-0), KC Public School trounced GHSS Jindrah by (2-0) and Kathat Manwal defeated MIER by (2-0), while in Kabaddi Under-19 boys, GHSS Nowabad defeated GHSS Paloura by 13 points, GHSS Nagrota beat GHSS Muthi by 10 points, GHSS Central Basic HSS Jindrah by 11 points, SRML HSS prevailed over Hari Singh HSS by 14 points and BSF Paloura beat GHSS Central Basic by 20 points.
