Hazare Trophy: Shubham Khajuria’s 84 helps J&K to beat Services by 3 wkts

JAMMU, Feb 23: Shubham Khajuria’s 84 runs brilliant inning, Abdul Samad’s 63 in just 38 balls and Shubham Singh Pundir’s unbeaten 56 runs off 84 helped the J&K to register a big win of 3 wickets over Services, played at JU-II Campus Salt Lake, Kolkata, today.
The trio’s outstanding contribution of 203 runs to the total helped the J&K to chase the difficult task given by the Services. However, both the openers Vivrant Sharma and Suryansh Raina showed some guts and contributed 17 and 19 runs by facing 19 & 16 balls respectively but the J&K’s Skipper Parvez Rasool once again disappointed with his batting and gave the wicket at 6 runs to Rahul Singh as lbw by facing just eight balls, whereas Abid Mushtaq and Shubham Singh remained not out.
Umar Nazir took two important wickets by conceding 37 runs, while Aquib Nabi, Parvez Rasool and Vivrant Sharma clinched one wicket each by conceding 70, 41 and 25 runs respectively for the J&K. Mujtaba Yousaf gave 58 runs without any success.
Earlier, the J&K won the toss and decided to field first. The opponent team batting first scored 274 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in stipulated 50 overs match. After loss of first wicket of Nakul Verma at just four runs in first over of the match by bowler Umar Nazir, the opener batsman of the Services-Ravi Chouhan played brilliant 118 runs inning with their team Skipper as 33 runs off 59 balls along with Pulkit Narang unbeaten 48 runs and set a big target of 274 runs before the J&K.
The J&K batsmen chased the target easily in 48.3 overs by losing only seven wicket and registered three wickets win over their opponent.
Diwesh Gurdev Pathania took one wicket by conceding 49 runs, whereas Pulkit Narang was the only bowler who took two wickets while Rahul Singh and Varun Choudhary clinched one wicket each for the Services.
