Haryana holds UP to goalless draw; Punjab scripts solitary goal win

KATRA, Feb 14: Haryana held Uttar Pradesh to a goalless draw (0-0), while Punjab defeated Himachal Pradesh by a solitary goal in the ongoing 73rd Santosh Trophy matches for North Zone at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, here today.
Two matches were played today in Group A.
In the first match, Haryana held Uttar Pradesh to a goalless draw. The players of both the teams showed extraordinary soccer skills but none of the teams could score till the end of the match, thus shared a point each.
In another match, Punjab beat Himachal Pradesh, by one goal to nil (1-0), thus grabbed 3 points. It was in 37th minute of the match, the Referee awarded penalty in favour of Punjab and Harpal made no mistake in converting that into a goal and giving his team a one goal lead.
With this win, Punjab has a total of 6 points in two matches and stands at the top in Group A, while Delhi is leading Group B.
As per the fixture, Delhi will take on Uttarakhand at 10 am and J&K will lock horns with Chandigarh at 1 pm tomorrow.
The Championship is being organized by J&K Football Association under the aegis of All India Football Federation (AlFF) in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council and is being supported by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and J&K Bank Ltd.
