JAMMU, Oct 3: Defeating formidable Delhi in women and men categories in the title clashes, Haryana clinches Chadha Cup and Rahmatullah Cup titles in the North Zone Badminton Championship, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Earlier, Sudershan Singh Wazir, president J&K Badminton Association presented welcome address, while prominent among others present on the occasion were Sidharth Sharma, JOINT SECRETARY J&K State Sports Council, Dr OD Sharma, general secretary of the J&K Badminton Association and Balbir Jamwal, secretary Jammu District Badminton Association.
Earlier, in Chadha Cup finals, Ekta Kalia of Haryana defeated Gauri Asija of Delhi by (21-16, 21-5) in singles event, while in doubles, Ekta and Jyoti got better of Sanskriti and Noor by (21-16, 12-21, 21-17), while in men’s Rahmatullah Cup title clash, Haryana defeated Delhi by (3-2) in a tough contest.
In Narang Cup Under-19 boys final, Delhi defeated Punjab by (2-0). In singles, Ankit Chikara beat Kashish by (21-12, 22-20), while in doubles, Arush and Utkarsh defeated Kashish and Summit by (21-19, 21-23, 21-12).
Meanwhile, in Shafi Qureshi Cup Under-19 girls final, Chandigarh drubbed Haryana by (2-0). Muskan Sohi trounced Lalita by (21-18, 21-10) in singles, while in doubles Muskan Sohi and Kailash outplayed Komal and lalita by (21-16, 21-15).
