JAMMU, Feb 16: A good batting display by skipper Hardeep Singh, wicketkeeper batsman Raman Thaploo and Nadeem Dar coupled with fabulous bowling show by speedsters Arshad Sheikh, Mehjoor Ali, Rahil Singh and Abid Nabi, guided JKCA Green to a 6-wicket win over equally balanced JKCA Orange as middle-order batsman Rohit Bhat’s half-century went in vain in the ongoing 50-over Quadrangular Cricket Series, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association to pick the players for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare and Mushtaq Ali Tournaments at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, JKCA Orange scored a modest total of 135 runs in 34.4 overs. Rohit Bhat was the top scorer with 50 runs off 90 balls, studded with 7 boundaries, while Adil Reshi contributed 21-ball 21 runs including 2 boundaries. Sameer Ali and Manish Dogra chipped in with 15 and 12 runs respectively. For JKCA Green, speedsters Arshad Sheikh, Mehjoor Ali, Abid Nabi and Rahil Singh bagged 2 wickets each by conceding 12, 15, 29 and 41 runs respectively, while left-arm spinner Raman Dutta and medium pacer Anshuman Singh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Green reached the target in 30.1 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Hardeep Singh top scored with unbeaten 32 runs with 3 boundaries, while Raman Thaploo contributed well made 31 runs, studded with 3 fours. Nadeem Dar and Imran Haroon scored 25 and 21 runs respectively, while Arshad Khawaja and Abid Nabi chipped in with 13 and unbeaten 12 runs respectively. Sameer Ali was the pick of the bowlers for JKCA Orange, who scalped 2 wickets by giving away 14 runs in 5 overs, while Zahoor Sofi and Vishwajeet Singh claimed one wicket each, giving away 20 and 23 runs respectively.
The match was officiated by BCCI Level-1 umpires Sudhir Singh and Harbinder Singh, while the BCCI Panel scorer, Ashwani Kumar maintained the scorebook.
The matches are being observed by a panel of senior selectors of JKCA including Abdul Rauf, chairman, Shiban Lal Trakroo, Shahid Parvez, Iqbal Shah and Tilak Singh.
