Green Valley Karkitchoo lifts Saurabh Kalia Cricket title

KARGIL, July 14: Defeating Star Friends Khunda by 3 wickets in the summit clash, Green Valley Karkitchoo lifted the title trophy of the Shaheed Saurabh Kalia Cricket Tournament at Cricket Stadium, Kaksar, here.
28 teams drawn from Shingo Valley participated in the tournament, in which apart from the above two teams, the teams of Prince XI Budgam and Royal Challengers Shamsha-B had qualified for the semifinals.
Zaheer Abass of Star Friends Club was adjudged man of the match and awarded a cash prize of Rs 500, while Feroz Hussain of Royal Challengers Shamsa-B was declared as man of the series to receive a cash prize of Rs 1000. Mukhtair Ahmed of Young Star Kaksar and Bilal Hussain of Green Valley Kirkitchoo were declared as best bowler and best batsman of the tournament respectively and received a cash prize of Rs 500 each.
Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was the chief guest on the occasion, while GOC, 8 Mtn Div Gen Raymond Narohna was the guest of honour, who later-on presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Councilor Tai Suru Syed Abass Razvi, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, M Raju, SSP Kargil Javed Iqbal Mattoo, CDR, 121 (1) Inf Bde Brigadier Shami Raj, Director SEWAK Mohammad Hamza, besides Sarpanchs, Panchs and large number of sports lovers and enthusiasts of the area.
