BHADERWAH, June 22: GR Azad Sports Club team registered 11 goals victory over Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) team in the inaugural tie of the “Football Tournament”, being organised by Rashtriya Rifles battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) at Government Degree College (GDC), here today.
In the tournament, a total of 18 teams are vying for the coveted trophy. The matches will be played on league cum knockout basis. A total of 9 matches will be played between the teams of Pool-A and Pool-B.
The tournament was declared open by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sharief Niyaz and Member Legislative Council (MLC) Naresh Kumar Gupta.
While speaking, MLA said that sports play an essential role in the overall development and character building of an individual.
Playing games not only helps exercising physically but also develops mental abilities too, he said, adding that games are good for developing team skills as well.
