SAMBA, Feb 23: Government Degree College Samba’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Department of Dogri in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Nyas J&K organized a one day workshop. Padam Shree Mohan Singh, renowned Dogri Writer & Scholar, was the Keynote speaker at the event.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Twinkle Suri, Principal of the College. She lauded the contribution of Mohan Singh in promotion of Dogri Language and stressed that it was paramount for the young learners to be well versed in their mother tongue and they should not shy away from using it in their day to day lives. Mohan Singh dwelt on the importance of language which is significant in ensuring a rich cultural identity.
He exhorted that we must accept the importance of linguistic pride and literature and make a collaborated effort to promote Dogri language. He emphasized the need for promoting Dogri language and literature among the younger generation through institutions of learning. He stressed that the mother tongue has a huge positive influence in defining and constructing the personality of an individual and Knowing one’s mother tongue well is a matter of pride. About 80 students and faculty participated in the program. Dr Joginder Singh, Convener, IQAC & HOD Dogri coordinated the event.
