JAMMU, May 25: Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu organized a health awareness and yoga camp at Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Ajay K Tikoo and the directions of Dr Aruna Bhat. The programme was graced by the presence of chief guests Mona Chalotra, 1st Class Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner’s Office Jammu, renowned social activist of Old Jammu City Mohit Sharma and Veena Handa, Principal of Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
On the occasion, Dr Jatinder Kour delivered a detailed lecture on drug de-addiction and highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining the physical and mental well-being of individuals. Shuchi Mohan also addressed the gathering and conducted an interactive yoga session for the students and teachers.
Mona Chalotra, in her address, said, “Drug de-addiction is one of the greatest needs of society today. In this direction, active participation from Government institutions, educational institutions, and every section of society is essential. Yoga is an effective means of bringing balance, confidence, and mental peace into our lives, and it should be adopted as a regular practice.”
Mohit Sharma stated that drug addiction is not just an individual problem but a serious challenge that affects entire families and society. To tackle this issue, he said, we must increase awareness at the grassroots level. Positive activities like yoga and sports play a very important role in guiding the youth in the right direction.
The camp witnessed active participation from doctors, interns, paramedical staff, and other employees of the hospital. A total of 62 students from classes 6th to 10th, along with teachers, enthusiastically participated in the programme. Free medical check-ups were conducted, and free medicines were distributed among the students and staff members.
