Royal Strikers Kharote scripts big win in JKCA Tourney

JAMMU, May 7: After conceding 19 runs in his very first over, leg spinner Govind Sharma came back strongly and scalped 5 important wickets by giving away 49 runs in his 7 overs in Laxmi Cricket Club’s all important game against Patel Cricket Club in Pool ‘A’ of the ongoing JKCA’s Jammu District Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Chasing a big total of 252 runs, Patel Cricket Club at one stage were comfortably placed at 120/1 in 18 overs, before Govind wrecked havoc by spinning web around the rival batsmen. Despite superb knocks by Abhinav Puri (84 off 72 balls) and Rhythem Gupta (50 off 54 balls), Patel Cricket Club bundled out for 191 runs in 35. 4 overs, thus lost the match by 60 runs. Except young Ansh Gandral (11) none of the other PCC batsmen could cross the double figure mark. Apart from Govind’s 5 wickets, Rohan Koul and Sant Baksh bagged 2 wickets each, while Dhruv Mahajan claimed one wicket.
Earlier, put into bat, Laxmi Cricket Club scored a good total of 251 runs in 40 overs. Rohan Koul top scored with 54 runs, while Nipun Verma, Ateev Saini and Dhruv Mahajan contributed 49, 45 and 37 runs to the total respectively. From PCC, Nityam Abrol bagged 4 wickets, while Ramneek, Dhruv Parmar, Sachin Sharma, Tayyab and Abhinav Puri shared one wicket each. For his superb bowling display, Govind Sharma was adjudged as the man of the match.
Meanwhile, at Ploice Lines ground Kathua, Royal Strikers Kharote defeated NCC Ghagwal by 66 runs.
Batting first, Royal Strikers Kharote scored a decent total of 179 runs in 36.2 overs. Raman top scored with 70 runs, while Vikas contributed 28 runs to the total. Rony took 3 wickets, while Kapil claimed 2 wickets from NCC Ghagwal.
In reply, NCC Ghagwal bundled out for 113 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 66 runs. Rinku and Rony scored 20 and 19 runs respectively. Randeep took 3 wickets, while Gaurav bagged 2 wickets from Royal Strikers Kharote.
The match was officiated by Vijay Raina, Ashok Singh and Saaleem-ur-Rehman at GGM Science College Jammu and the match at Police Lines Kathua was officiated by Jatinder Singh, Mohan Lal, Kulbhushan Singh and Sourav Sharma.
