Good to see ‘Swadeshi Khel Kabaddi’ being promoted in State: Dr Vaid

JAMMU, Apr 27: It is an amazing feeling to see our traditional sport rather ‘Swadeshi Khel Kabaddi’ being promoted in nooks and corners of the State. Promotion of such sporting events in the State and the Country as well, depicts that Indians have no more fetish for foreign things.
This was stated by Dr SP Vaid, Director General of Police J&K during the valedictory function of Dr Hedgewar T20 Kabaddi School Gold Cup, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association at Kabaddi Field, MA Stadium, here.
The DGP appreciated the drive by J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association for promoting Kabaddi and also distributed cash prize among the winners and runners-up teams and gave gold chains to best players of the Tournament.
The DGP also honoured senior journalists Rajesh Dhar and Vikas Abrol on the occasion.
He was accompanied by Anil Gupta, President J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman J&K State Sports Council, Parneesh Mahajan, Chairman NSM Group of Colleges and Schools and Raman Suri as the guests of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of the Association, BS Tirthi, Vice President of the Association,  Surinder Mohan, General Secretary of the Association, Karunesh Gupta, Organizing Secretary, Rajesh Dhar, Media Advisor, Anil Modi, Press Secretary, Sangram Singh, Treasurer, Dinesh Gupta, Secretary Jammu Kabaddi Association and Ashok Singh, Manager MA Stadium Jammu.
Earlier, in the final of boys section, Ranbir Hr Secondary School defeated Raina Hr Secondary School by 5 points, while Govt Hr Secondary School Khour and Play Way Hr Secondary School Pouni Chak shared 3rd place.
Kazil Rashid of Ranbir Hr Secondary School was adjudged as the best player of the Tournament, while Shubam of Ranbir Hr Secondary School as best catcher and Abhishek Gupta of Raina Hr Secondary School as best raider.
In Girls section, SOS Herman beat St. Francis Hr Secondary School Akhnoor by 11 points to win the title, while Bhartiya Vidya Mandir and KV No-1 Gandhi Nagar Jammu shared third spot. Deep Mala of SOS Herman was declared as the player of the tournament, Ashu of SOS Herman as best raider and Diksha of St. Francis Akhnoor as the best catcher.
Earlier, Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman, Sports Council Jammu also appreciated the work of J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association and also honoured the coaches and other officials on the occasion.
Earlier, Kuldeep Kumar Gupta Chief Executive Officer of the Association presented welcome address.
