Gill appreciates Gaekwad for persuading demand of former cricketers’ pension to BCCI

JAMMU, Sept 26: J&K senior cricketer and Apex Council member of JKCA, Rajesh Gill appreciated the former Test opener Anshuman Gaekwad who represents the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) in the BCCI Apex Council for persuading the demands of pension of former cricketers who played less than 25 first class matches.
In a recently press statement, Gaekward said that the Board is all set to come up with a pension proposal for former players discussed in the last meeting wherein BCCI president Sourav Ganguly assured that he would come up with a proposal in the next meeting for the pension of former players.
It needs to mention here that the ICA’s long-standing demands include pension for former players who have played less than 25 first-class games, pension for widows of former cricketers and women domestic cricketers.
The former Ranji player welcomed the move of ICA Board of Directors especially Anshuman Gaekward for persuading the demands of former cricketers with BCCI and also thanked to BCCI president for assuring and fulfilling the genuine demands of former cricketers.
Gill further said that there are so many formers cricketers of Jammu & Kashmir who have played less than 25 first class matches and are not in Government service and facing lot of problems in their day to day life especially during COVID pandemic. He also appreciated the BCCI for domestic players’ fee hike.
