JAMMU, Sept 5: Players continued to showcase their talent in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Championships, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall and ground Number 1 of the Varsity, here today.
In Inter-Collegiate Fencing Championship for men, GDC Udhampur, SPMR College of Commerce and MAM College clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively in Sabre Team Event, whereas in Foil Team Event, GDC Udhampur and SPMR College of Commerce bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while GDC Paloura and MAM College won bronze medals.
In Epee Team Event, GDC Udhampur and GDC Paloura clinched gold and silver medals, whereas MAM College and SPMR College of Commerce shared bronze medals.
The matches were officiated by Shotu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Ujjwal Gupta, Ajay Khatrol and PD Singh.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament for men ASCOMS registered win over GDC Udhampur by straight four goals to nil in the first match. From ASCOMS side, first goal was scored by Salman Rafiq in 5th minute, second and third goals were netted in by Tahir Shafi in 10th and 45th minutes respectively and fourth goal was scored by Usman Bashir in 56th minute.
In the second match, GDC Poonch thrashed GDC Rajouri by 3-1 goals. From GDC Poonch side, first goal was scored by Karamveer in 6th minute, second goal by Muneeb Ahmed in 12th minute and third goal by Khawaja Ahmed in 44th minute. From GDC Rajouri side, Nowshad Malik was the lone goal scorer in 10th minute.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Gupta, Vijay Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
The Championships were held under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
