GDC Thannamandi organizes quiz competition

RAJOURI, Aug 24: Department of Environmental Sciences, Government Degree College (GDC), Thannamandi organized an intra college quiz Competition on the topic “Ecosystems and their Stability”.
The event was the first of the series of such programmes under environmental awareness campaign scheduled for the ongoing academic session in the college.
In the competition, six teams–File Team, The Stars, The Vioers, Pakeeza, The Roses and The Lotuses participated. The team Lotuses emerged winner after a spectacular display of neck-to-neck competition among the contestant teams.
Principal of the College Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the function. He in his elaborative speech highlighted the need of environmental awareness and development of ecologically correct attitude for public in general and for literate community in particular.
HoD Environmental Sciences Prof Junaid Jazib, who organized and conducted the proceedings of the contest, advocated the role of such competitive events in imparting environmental education to students, professionals and general masses.
Among others present were Prof Saleem Ayaz Rather, HoD Zoology, Dr Nayeem-un-Nissa, HOD Arabic, Prof Sankait Gupta, HoD Computer Application, Lecturer Iqbal Khan of Zoology, Lecturer Kabir Shah, Shafqat Shah, Dr Tahir Chowdhary of Botany and Dr Umar of Botany Department.
