GDC Qazigund organises Kabaddi match

QAZIGUND, Apr 18: As part of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the College Well-Being & Anti-Substance Abuse Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Qazigund organised a friendly Kabaddi match to raise awareness among students against drug abuse. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from college sportspersons, along with display of anti-drug slogans and administration of a pledge to staff and students.
Principal Prof Sudhir Singh, in his address, expressed concern over increasing drug abuse among youth and highlighted that sports can play a vital role in shaping discipline, positive peer influence, and healthy lifestyles, thereby helping prevent substance use.
Earlier, the activity was introduced by Dr Irshad Ahmed Shah, Convener Sports, who emphasised that sports are an effective tool to address social challenges and engage youth constructively.
Team A included Muzamil Rashid Rather, Suhail Ahmad Kumar, Bilal Ahmad Wani, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Usman Altaf, and Nasir Maqbool, while Team B comprised Imran Rasheed, Ubaid Ahmad Rather, Hashim Amin, Jahangir Ahmad Sheikh, Masroor Ahmad Mir and Sabir Awan. Dr. Basharat was commentator, Rihan Nazir and Rizwan Ahmad were umpires and Dr. Javed Ahmad Itoo was organiser.
