JAMMU, Dec 3: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua emerged overall winner of Inter-Collegiate Men’s Wrestling Championship, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at University of Jammu, here today.
About 200 wrestlers from 27 Colleges participated in the tournament wherein GDC Kathua secured 17 points, while GDC Khour clinched 11 points. The prizes were distributed by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education among winners.
In 57kg, Rohit Kumar of GDC Khour and Abhi Sharma of GDC Basohli won gold and silver medals respectively, Talib Hussain of GDC Kathua and Shafqat of GDC Kunjwani shared bronze medal, while in below 61kg, the gold and silver medals were won by Mohd Riaz of GDC Reasi and Mohd Asif of GDC Udhampur, while Rajat and Pardeep Kumar of GDC Khour jointly clinched bronze medal and in below 65 kg, Iqbal Mohd of GDC Jindrah won gold, while Suraj Din of GDC Billawar clinched silver and Shivam Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and Zaheer Chowdhary of GDC Pouni shared bronze medal, besides in below 70 kg, Dev Singh of GDC Basohli and Gagan Singh of GDC Vijaypur won gold and silver, while Rohit Sharma of GDC Paloura and Sahil Ali of GDC Kathua shared bronze medals.
In below 74 kg, Saddam of GDC Kathua and Daleep of GDC Hiranagar won gold and silver, while Gulshan of GDC Vijaypur and Sidharth of GDC Reasi jointly clinched bronze medal, while, in below 79 kg, Tarun Sharma of GDC Kathua and Atul Sharma got top two medals respectively, while Mohd Shafiq of PTI and Kamal Preet of GDC Akhnoor shared bronze medal and in below 86 kg, Anuj Singh of PTI and Nikhil Sharma of GDC Samba secured two top medals respectively, while Koushal Kumar of GDC Khour and Kulbushan Singh of GDC VIjaypur shared bronze medal.
In below 92 kg, Abhishek of GDC Sidhra and Raman Singh of GDC Khour clinched gold and silver, while Sanam Bahar of GDC Kunjwani and Anmol Sudan of GDC RS Pura shared bronze medal, whereas in below 97 kg, Javed Sheikh of TDC Nardani and Sunny Sharma of GDC Khour won top two medals respectively and in below 125 kg, RN Choudhary of GDC Kathua and Pankaj Thakur of GDC Jindrah won gold and silver respectively and Vivek Mahajan of GDC Khour and Sajid Ahmed Chowdhary of GDC Kunjwani shared bronze medal.
The matches were officiated by panels of referees including Jai Bharat, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Sahil Sharma, Dr Kamal Sharma and others.
