JAMMU, Aug 19: Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar, Government MAM College and Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua defeated their rivals and sailed into the next round on the second day of the ongoing Inter Collegiate Chess (Men and Women) Tournament being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in its Gymnasium Hall.
In the first match of Men Section, GDC Hiranagar team beat GDC Paloura team by straight 4-0 points. Ajay Kumar of GDC Hiranagar thrashed Randeep Singh of GDC Paloura, Rammy Sharma of GDC Hiranagar beat Mohit Bharti of GDC Paloura, Lalit Sharma of GDC Hiranagar defeated Rahul Singh Manhas of GDC Paloura and Shubham Sharma of GDC Hiranagar smashed Sanjay Manhas of GDC Paloura.
In the second match, Government MAM College team crushed GDC Rajouri team by 3-2 points through best v/s best game. Nitname Singh of GDC Rajouri defeated Athar of Government MAM College, Ankush Choudhary of GDC Rajouri crushed Rajat Kumar of Government MAM College, Shivam Mahajan of Government MAM College lost to Mohammad Amin of GDC Rajouri, Ahishek Gupta of Government MAM College lost to Gorav Bhardwaj. In best v/s beat Mohammad Amin of Government MAM College defeated Ankush Choudhary of GDC Rajouri.
In the third match, GDC Kathua defeated GDC Udhampur by 3-2 points through best v/s best game. Pankaj Sharma of GDC Kathua beat Rahul Sharma, (Senior), Abishek Singh of GDC Kathua beat Anil Singh, Vinod Kumar of GDC Kathua lost to Rahul Sharma (Junior), Ankush Mahajan of GDC Kathua lost to Pawan Kumar. In best v/s best game, Abishek Singh of GDC Kathua beat Rahul Sharma.
Meanwhile, GDC RS Pura, GGM Science College Jammu, PG Department and SPMR College of Commerce got walkovers.
In Women Section, GWC Parade, SPMR College of Commerce, GDC RS Pura, GWC Gandhi Nagar and GDC Udhampur teams got walkovers.
All the matches were played under the supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
