JAMMU, Feb 5: Outplaying Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar in an easy contest by 8 wickets in the summit clash, the formidable team of GDC Bhaderwah lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, GDC Ramnagar managed to score a paltry total of 79 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 6 wickets in the process. Rohit Sharma, Tilk Raj and Jeevan Lal contributed 16, 14 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For GDC Bhaderwah, Zahid bagged 2 wickets, while Burhan, Mubashir, Subash and Deepak claimed one wicket each.
In reply, GDC Bhaderwah chased the target in 11.4 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Baber Hussain (36) and Deepak (19) were the main contyributors. For GDC Ramnagar, Parveen Singh claimed one wicket.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Dogra, Manu Khajuria and Rajkumar Bakshi.
Sunil Sharma, IGP was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presided over. The chief guest along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Principal GDC Bhaderwah, RK Raina; Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Dr Brij Baloria, Mudasir Rasool Dar and Suresh Kumar.
