JAMMU, Sept 17: Defending Champion Govt College for Women (GCW) Parade lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Basketball (W) Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the summit clash, GCW Parade again showed its supremacy and took the lead right from the word go and clinched the title by defeating PG. Department by a margin of 17 points (31-14).
Kanupriya and Sayali played brilliantly from GCW Parade while Diksha and Sonali also fought well from PG Department.
Krupali Patel (Arjuna Awardees in Gymnastics) was the chief guest, who presented trophy to the winners on the occasion.
Suman Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Manjit Singh, Rajinder Magotra, Sudesh Sharma and Vikas Karlopia, (Incharge Basketball (W) Tournament) were also present on the occasion.
The tournament was organized under the supervision of Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The final match was officiated by the technical penal of officials including Aman Sharma (Sr. SAI Coach Basketball), Manoj Kumar, Harpreet Singh, Sumit Dogra and Rajesh Bhagat (all qualified officials Basketball Federation of India).
Meanwhile, in Inter Collegiate Kho Kho (W) Tournament , GDC Akhnoor defeated GCW Gandhi Nagar by 1 point ( 04-03), while GCW Kathua drubbed GDC Kathua by 4 points and 1 innings (04-00).
The matches were officiated by Anil Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Mohd Israr, Sachin Sharma and Tournament Incharge, Gagan Kumar.
