KATHUA, Oct 3: Government College for Women Parade, Post Graduate Department, University of Jammu and Government College for Women Udhampur registered resounding victories in first round matches of the Inter-Collegiate Women Kabaddi Tournament which got underway at Government Degree College, here today.
Zahida Parveen, District Development Commissioner Kathua was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony and declared the Championship open in an impressive and well attended function.
Earlier, in the first match, GCW Parade thrashed GDC Samba in an easy contest by 34 points (46-12), while in other first round match, GCW Gandhi Nagar got walkover to move into the next round.
In another match, GCW Udhampur got better of GCW Kathua by 21 points (33-12), while in the last match played today, PG Department, University of Jammu registered a narrow win by 6 points (32-26).
Dr Nater Singh, Principal GDC Kathua, Dr Janak Singh and Prof PK Rao were present on the occasion.
The matches are being held under the supervision of Physical Director, Prof Balwinder Singh, while the matches were officiated by Kuldeep Singh, Joginder Singh, Sukh Ram, Uttam Singh and Parveen.
