JAMMU, Apr 27: An Arjun Chowdhary initiative, promoted by Sudarshan Mahajan-Raju Chowdhary Group, the long-awaited indoor swimming pool at KC Sports Club was inaugurated in an impressive and colourful opening ceremony held in the Club this evening.
According to the owners, the Club is the concrete manifestation of Arjun’s dream to create an ideal indoor sports facility in India at par with the best in the world which he has seen and experienced during his education abroad.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries and Commerce graced the occasion as the chief guest, who formally declared the pool open after unveiling the inaugural plaque and cutting the ribbon.
The 20 meters long all-weather indoor swimming pool is located on the ground floor of the Club in a spacious area measuring about 4500 sq ft.
KC Sports Club is the first of its own kind indoor sports complex not only in J&K but also in north India. It is spread over 3 double height storeys and provides world class indoor sporting and recreational facilities in an air-conditioned space of about 60000 sq ft. The ground floor houses a state-of-the-art ultra-modern Gym fitted with Cybex gym equipment imported from the US. A rock climbing wall within the gym offers adventure enthusiasts a well-designed facility to learn and sharpen their rock climbing skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. In addition to the gym, the two multi-purpose halls on the ground floor offer a wide range of sports, fitness and recreational activities such as table tennis, creative dancing, aerobics, Yoga and so on. With the commissioning of the indoor swimming pool, the ground floor of the Club has now turned fully functional.
The entire first floor of the Club measuring about 16000 sq ft offers the facility of an indoor Cricket Hall. The flooring of the hall done with world class Tiger Turf imported from New Zealand offers best possible surface for both batting and bowling. The Hall has 9 practice tracks specially designed for pace and spin bowling.
An automatic Bola bowling machine offers the convenience of solo batting practice with the machine spewing out a variety of pre-programmed deliveries.
The hall is fitted with specially designed lights to facilitate playing day and night Cricket either individually or in the form of an indoor match now gaining popularity all over the world with its own set of rules. Intensive coaching in the game is being provided to the young Cricket aspirants of Jammu in collaboration with Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE).
The second floor of the Club is near completion and will offer the sports enthusiasts of Jammu a vast array of major indoor sports such as Squash, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Football and Fencing.
After the inaugural function, the chief guest took a guided tour of the Club and observed the members engaged in various fitness and health activities.
