Framing J&K’s comprehensive sports policy is need of hour: Sham

JAMMU, Feb 15: Former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma has appealed the Lieutenant Governor Administration to frame a sports policy for the youth of the Union Territory at the earliest. It was stated by him during the concluding ceremony of three days long Judo Championship, organised by Judo Welfare Association concluded at Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
Former Minister and State BJP vice president, Sham Lal Sharma was chief guest of the event.
New Delhi was adjudged as the overall champion in the competition while Haryana was adjudged as the runner-up in the championship.
Speaking at the occasion, Sharma said that besides keeping the youth fit and healthy, Judo also imbibes in them skill of self-defence.”Judo has become a life skill. It not only keeps the youth fit and active, but also opens new avenues for the budding sportsmen,” said Sharma.
He applauded the Association which is actively working in this field to aware the people about the benefits of practicing Judo and asked it to continue their good work in the future.
Youth of Jammu is second to none but marred by weak sports infrastructure, Sham also appealed Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to look into the matter.”The youth of Jammu and Kashmir have proved their mettle time and again at all levels. It is unfortunate that despite having the best of talent, the youth suffers from infrastructural gaps,” he said.
