UDHAMPUR, Apr 10: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Boys Udhampur celebrated Annual Day in the school premises with great pomp and show here today.
Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest while Director School Education, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh was the guest of honor on the occasion.
While speaking Minister said that extra-curricular activities play a vital role in the overall personality development of the students, adding holding of such programmes in any Government educational institutions has its own relevance as such occasions provide a common platform to the talented students to exhibit their hidden talent which further help them in improving self-confidence, physical and mental capabilities.
He assured all possible help to the school management and committed for the development of better learning environment in the district.
Director School Education complimented the school management for holding such programme which would go a long way to help the students to shape their talent. He hope that such programmes should also be organized by Government educational institutions in near future for overall personality development of students.
On the occasion, a colourful cultural bonanza was presented by the students which were highly appreciated by the audience present on the occasion.
Earlier, Principal of host School, Sunil Sharma presented school annual report in which various achievements of the school for the last year were highlighted and projected various demands which include construction of additional class rooms, auditorium and renovation of existing building etc.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes among the students who excelled in academics and participated in national sport events.
Director Sports, SMVDU, Ashok Kumar, Chief Education Officer, Balbir Singh, Col. Rajeev Bang, Zonal Education Officers, Principals, Headmasters, Educationalists, lecturers, staff and students were present on the occasion.
While Wasim Ahmed and Manjeet Singh conducted the proceedings of the programmes.
