JAMMU, Apr 17: Ace Taekwondo athlete and coach, Atul Pangotra, has been selected as an official (International Referee) for the 1st Daedo Online Eurpean Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
This is the first of its kind event to be held in the history of Taekwondo.
The event is an initiative of World Taekwondo Europe and sanctioned by World Taekwondo to ensure that athletes train at their homes and stay fit.
The event is a non contact Taekwondo Form (Poomsae) event.
Atul Pangotra is one among 21 officials who have been selected for the championship world over and the only official from India.
Talking to media persons Atul said,”It is for the first time in the history of Taekwondo sport that such an event has been organized. This will ensure that all the athletes will train at home and stay fit. I request all other Associations, J&K State Sports Council and the Department of Youth Services & Sports to organize events on such pattern”.
Atul is a Physical Education Teacher with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and has the distinction of producing International stuff from Jammu and Kashmir in the field of Taekwondo.
Atul is the recipient of both Sher-e-Kashmir and State awards for his outstanding achievements in the field of sports.
