Essay, Short Story Writing Competitions held on Day-7

JAMMU, Sept 20: On the seventh day of ‘Display Your Talent-2015-16’ organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, two events namely Essay Writing and Short Story Writing were conducted at the Examination Hall, JU, here today.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Pankaj K Srivastava informed that all the students who are securing First Prizes in different events of Display Your Talent 2015, would be felicitated at the valedictory function on September 28, 2015 at 4 pm at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
In Essay Writing competition, around 57 students from different Colleges, Institutions and Departments of the University of Jammu participated. Dr. Som Nath was the Teacher In-Charge of the event. The topics given to the students for Essay Writing were; Women Empowerment, Global Warming, Panchayati Raj in J&K State and Status of the Higher Education in our State.
In Short Story Writing, 50 students participated. Dr. A.R. Manhas was the Teacher In-Charge of the event. The participants were supposed to write a story of not more than 1500 words on the following topics;
‘Unrest in Youth’, ‘Cyber Crime’, ‘Yoga Fever’, ‘Decline of Human Values’. The story could be written in Hindi, English, Dogri, Urdu or Punjabi.
The results of the both the events would be declared on September 25, 2015.
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s results of the Quiz competition, team consisting of Sayeda Fakhara, Anirudh Khajuria and Anshul Gupta from Department of Geography was declared second.
The event was coordinated by Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer) and  Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor). Rahul Sharma, Archana Sharma, Radhika Sharma, Abhishek Sharma and Simrandeep Singh did the Hall Management.
