JAMMU, Dec 21: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma declared open 2-day Traditional J&K UT level Wrestling Championship, organized by Wrestling Association of J&K at Bajrangi Akhara Shalamar Road, here today.
The championship is being organized under the auspices of Wrestling Federation of India, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Purnima Sharma encouraged the young talent and congratulated the organizers who organized such an event in a disciplined manner. She also encouraged women wrestlers to participate in the championship.
Welcome address was presented by Pardeep Sharma co-convener BJP Sports Cell who extended gratitude to the Deputy Mayor for sparing valuable time to grace the occasion as chief guest.
Large number of prominent citizens and former wrestlers including Om Parkash, Sahil Sharma international wrestling coach, Ravinder Kumar, Krishan Singh, Daler Khan, Ajay Bharti and other members were present during the event.
A total of 85 wrestlers from all over the J&K UT including Jammu, Samba, Reasi, Kathua, Doda, Srinagar and Budgam are taking part in this mega event.
