JAMMU, Dec 21: Smt. Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies (SSGCWS), MIER College in collaboration with St. Christopher’s College of Education, Chennai organized an inter-college debate competition on the topic ‘Women Empowerment-A Myth or Reality’, here today.
Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER Group, Dr Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director and Director CWS, Dr Mool Raj Sharma and Dr Rohnika Sharma, HoD UG and PG Departments along with the faculty members and students attended the event.
The speakers emphatically expressed their perspectives on the topic and discussed what needs to be altered for the society’s harmonious growth and eradication of gender discrimination from the different strata’s of the society.
Samyuktha K Raj from St. Christopher’s College of Education bagged first position, while Hope Julie Pearlyn. J. C and Preet Uppal from St. Christopher’s College of Education and MIER College shared second position and Renita Mary and Sonia Choudhary from St. Christopher’s and MIER College jointly secured the third place.
Rupa Gupta formally welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and students from both the colleges and introduced the jury members to the audience, while Dr Adit Gupta said that under the MOU, both the Colleges have taken the initiative to organize activities that will facilitate effective networking, sharing of best practices and provide exposure to the students and teachers for keeping abreast with current trends in education both academic and non-academic.
Dr Sonia Khajuria and Rubeena Yasmine were the judges of the event, while the event culminated with vote of thanks which was presented by Susan David. Komal Sharma conducted the programme in technical assistance with Rajan Salathia, Kuldeep and Sanjay Vishwakarma.
