JAMMU, Dec 26: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah today stressed the need for inculcating good moral values and virtues among children from the very beginning so that they grew up as disciplined and responsible citizens and contribute towards betterment of society.
“Inculcating moral values in curriculum will go a long way in achieving the larger objective of shaping the destiny of our children”, Dr Abdullah said while addressing Annual Day function of Mayur Public School in Jhiri, near here this afternoon.
Dr Abdullah also called for generating adequate awareness among younger generation about the glorious cultural heritage and inclusiveness of the State, saying this is imperative to connect them with the past and forge a spirit of camaraderie and oneness, which will help in harmonious growth of the society.
Appreciating the management of the school for overall performance of the institution, National Conference President hoped that imparting quality education based on modern trends will help students of disadvantageous areas to face the competitive world with much more confidence. He hoped that apart from academics, the management will give due impetus to all round personality development of students by way of non-formal and moral education.
Dr Abdullah also called for greater parent-teacher synergy to achieve the objective of career advancement of students and called for periodical interactions between them to exchange much-needed feedback.
Besides Provincial President, Devender Singh Rana and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra also spoke on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the School, I D Soni dwelt upon the facilities created for generating conducive academic atmosphere in the institution. He said the school has been equipped with all logistics and stress is being laid on sports and extra-curricular activities apart from academics.

The promoter of the School, Nasreen Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The highlight of the Annual Day function was a colorful cultural programme presented by the students, which was appreciated by the audience.
Besides parents, the function was attended by National Conference State Vice President, Rattan Lal Gupta, Israr Khan and Pradeep Bali.
