Downtown Heroes defeats Sports Council team, enters quarterfinal

SRINAGAR, Jan 2: It was another dismal outing from Sports Council Football team (Sports Council Football Academy) as they were handed 3-1 defeat by Downtown Heroes FC in the match of Real Kashmir Cup at Synthetic Turf TRC ground here today.
The match was vouched as grudge match, with two teams recently having developed a sort of rivalry.
While Sports Council Football team is managed by star studded lineup, Downtown Heroes FC have relied on home grown and grass root level attached management.
Despite playing on their home ground, Sports Council Football team with all the facilities at their disposal failed to match the level of intensity and energy shown by Downtown Heroes FC in the field.
It was early morning fixture with sun yet to shine in freezing January temperatures.
The first half turned out as goalless while as in second half four goals were witnessed.
In first half, due to slippery conditions owing to frosty pitch Sports Council aide failed to convert the chances they got.
At halftime score was 0-0.
In second half, Downtown Heroes FC looked completely different side.
Kishori scored the opening goal of the match for Downtown. Only minute later Sports Council made it 1-1. When it looked that contest is back to square one, Aquib scored beautiful goal to give Downtown Heroes 2-1 lead.
In close minutes of the game, Ayaan scored third goal for the Downtown Heroes FC to make it 3-1.
After that no goal was scored and Downtown Heroes FC won by 3-1 and cruised into quarterfinal of the tournament.
