Winter Cricket Cup commences

POONCH, Jan 2: Winter Cricket Cup, being organized by Khidmat Foundation Poonch commenced at sports stadium here.
Fourty eight teams from all over the district are participating in this tourney.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Angral was the chief guest on the occasion and declared the championship open in presence of prominent citizens and sports lovers.
While speaking, SSP advised the players to play with dedication and sportsman spirit. He further said by organizing the sports activities the energies of the youth get channelized in positive direction.
Prominent persons present on the opening ceremony were Azeem Qureshi DySP, Mohammad Qasim District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Er Saleem Bandey General Secretary District Table Tennis Association, Altaf Hussain Shah Retd SSP, Pardeep Khanna renowned anchor, Imran Shah Chairman Khidmat Foundation, Zaffar Shah President District Cricket Association, Imtiaz Salaria Ward Councillor, Nirdosh Kumar Incharge Manager Sports Stadium, Mohammad Zaman Senior Advocate, Taj Mir Senior Congress leader, Gurmeet Singh senior PDP leader, Farhad Sidiqui District Officer GP Fund, Rajinder Singh Retd PEM, Mohammad Farid Malik, Shabir Bhat, Amresh Kumar, Kewal Suri, Vijay Kumar, Narinder Singh and Rajinder Singh.
Opening match of the tournament was played between Purani Poonch Club and Dalaan Warriors which was won by the latter by 4 wickets. Purani Poonch Club scored 112 runs in 15 overs which the winner team chased in 13 overs.
