JAMMU, Nov 14: Dogra Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, Jammu, organized an Annual Sports Meet at Dogra Grounds, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Navin Aggarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Surekha Charak, president, Managing Committee, Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar and Uma Katal, Manager Rich Harvest School were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Davinder Kour, Principal, Dogra Higher Secondary School welcomed the guests and the parents of the students.
Earlier, the Meet began with the release of balloons in the air by the chief guest and other dignitaries.
The games were started with Mass Drill and the demonstration of Speedball.
The chief guest in his address said that sports and games boost the physical standard and mental ability of the students. The students who brought laurel for their school in different events at National, State and District Level were also honoured by the chief guest on the occasion.
The students who were felicitated included Harsh Vaid, winner of gold medal in hockey; Siddarth Maini, winner of District Level Chess Competition and Tanvijay, winner of gold in National School Games in the discipline of fencing.
Uma Katal, Manager Rich Harvest Schools in her brief address threw light on how the school progressed over the years since its inception. Gold, silver and bronze medals were presented to the best students in different events by Surekha Charak, president MC, Dogra HSS.
Gambhir Dev Singh Charak also spoke on the occasion.
