JAMMU, Apr 28: Expressing satisfaction over the completion of the developmental work on ‘Sunjuwan Oval’ ground at HSS Sunjuwan within the targeted time of 10 months, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh advised a large gathering of cricketers, cricket lovers and students to always be determined and focused to achieve the targets within the stipulated time.
He said this while speaking during the valedictory function of the Inter-School Cricket Tournament at HSS Sunjuwan, organized by District Administration in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, Jammu and the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Mr Simrandeep said that the mantra for success is “Do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today”, adding that had the development of this oval shaped beautiful playfield been delayed for some months, 63 lakh expenditure for its development would have been 126 lakhs (double).
The Deputy Commissioner lavishly praised vice chairman J&K State Sports Council, Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra for his role in organizing the Inter-School Tournament. He also lauded the efforts of DYSSO Jammu, Principal HSS Sunjuwan and the officiating panel for organizing the event smoothly and successfully.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Anuradha Sharma, Member BCCI and vice chairman J&K State Sports Council, Ranjeet Kalra, Principal HSS Sunjuwan, Prem Singh and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj were the guests of honour.
Meanwhile, the final match was played between HSS R S Pura and HSS Bishnah which was won by HSS Bishnah by a narrow margin of 3 runs.
Earlier, HSS Bishnah won the toss and elected to bat and made 62 runs in the stipulated 10 overs. Shivam Lalotra made 30 runs off 18 balls.
During the run chase, HSS R.S Pura made 59 runs for all out and lost the match by 3 runs.
HL Bhagat, Principal HSS Bishnah, Reema Chhetri, Lecturer Physical Education HSS Bishnah, Kuldeep Raj PEM HSS Bishnah and Kamlesh Devi PET were present during the match.
The matches were officiated by Jagtar Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Suresh Singh, Pankaj Sasun, Madan Mohan and Mukesh Sharma, while Rajesh Dhar was the convener of the event, who also conducted the proceedings of the valedictory function.
