JAMMU, May 29: Meritorious Divyangjan students of the School for Hearing Handicapped were felicitated with cash awards at a function organised by J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SKK) in Jammu.
The awards were presented by former DGPs Kuldeep Khoda and Dr Ashok Bhan, both life members of SKK. SKK President K B Jandial was also present on the occasion, along with several distinguished members and guests.
The SKK awarded cash prizes to J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) toppers for the 10th, 11th and 12th classes for the session 2025-26. Koustab Singh, topper of Class 12th, received Rs 4000, Nattika Sharma (11th) received Rs 3500 and Sahil Kumar (10th) received Rs 2500 in recognition of their academic excellence.
Gian Devi Jandial Charitable Trust also extended additional cash awards of Rs 3000 to Koustab Singh, Rs 2000 to Nattika Sharma and Rs 1000 to Sahil Kumar, appreciating their outstanding performance.
Anita Raina Memorial Scholarship for poor and meritorious girl Divyang students was also distributed on the occasion. Five girl students, including Kanak (Class 2nd), Palak Kumari (Class 5th), Risalat Sabri (Class 5th), Neha Sharma (Class 8th) and Poonam (Class 10th), were each awarded Rs 3000.
The scholarship has been instituted by SKK Advisor B K Raina in memory of his wife Anita Raina and is sustained through interest earned from a Rs 2 lakh fixed deposit and stationery.
Among others present on the occasion were Brig (Dr) Rakesh Khajuria, Vice President SKK; J K Vaid, General Secretary; Prem Gupta; C L Banal; Nisar Ahmad; former IGPs; Dr Sudarshan Kumar, former DG DRDO; Vinod Padha, Executive Director; and O P Sharma, Treasurer CGPWA.
