JAMMU, Sept 21: District Udhampur Chess Association organized Prize Distribution Function to honour the winners of Computer Point Open and Inter-District Chess Championship 2014 organized by District Udhampur Chess Association in association with Champion Sports and Cultural Academy and coordinated by Sky High India Social Organization under the aegis of All J&K State Chess Association.
Jiven Lata Gupta, Chairman Research & Studies in Communication Education & Technology Cooperative Ltd (RSCET) was the chief guest on the occasion, while prominent Social Activist, Aman Kalsotra, Director Champion Sports & Cultural Academy was the special guest.
The programme started with plating of sapling by the guests.
Jiven Lata presented awards to the winners of this Championship who included Parul Kumar Angurana, student of Govt Higher Secondary School Jaganoo who was declared as overall champion of Computer Point District Udhampur in Open male category and was winner of Under-17 male category title.
Akshat Dogra, student of Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1 was declared winner in Under-9 category. In Under-15 boys category, Harsh Mahajan, student of Braham Rishi Bawara High school was declared winner in Under-15 category.
In Under-19 category, Adishwar Verma was declared the winner.
In female section, champion youngest chess players title holder of J&K State, Shivanshi of Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1 Udhampur again received Female Open Champion Cup after sweeping other opponents as for as marks are concerned and retained title.
Speaking on the occasion, Jiven Lata showered praise on the organizers for organizing chess extravaganza.
The function ended with the presentation of vote of thanks.
