UDHAMPUR, June 3: The District Level Table Tennis Tournament under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan was commenced today at the Indoor Sports Hall, Subash Stadium, Udhampur. The event is being jointly organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council and the District Udhampur Table Tennis Association to promote a drug-free society and encourage youth participation in sports.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Tarseem Singh, DYSSO Udhampur, who attended as chief guest. Around 150 players, including boys and girls from different parts of the district, are participating in the event. Among others present were Suraj Bhan Singh, Tarun, Prikshit Khajuria, Jaswinder Singh, Ankit Sharma, Sunny Sadotra and Sunny Sharma. Match officials included Maninder Singh and Sahil Malgotra. In the Under-11 boys category, Avyukt Sharma defeated Vinayak Tripathi by 3-1, while Unnat Magotra registered a straight-sets win over Pranab Sharma by 3-0 to qualify for the final. In the Senior Women category, Saianshika Sharma overcame Aadhya Sharma by 3-1, whereas Pragya Rajput edged past Smriti Suchandra in a closely contested match by 3-2.
