POONCH, June 15: As part of weeklong celebrations on the occasion of Raising Day of J&K Police, District Police Poonch organized ‘Run for Fun’ marathon, here today.
The run was divided into two categories of senior and junior.
A large number of participants including people from all walks of life took part in the rally and best performers in each category were provided with trophies and cash awards.
Shamsheer Hussain, SP Poonch flagged off the rally at wee hours from Eidgah Chowk Poonch to Army Auditorium and back to Fawara Garden Poonch.
The winners in junior category were Iftiqar Ahmed, Manpreet Singh and Rakshit Sharma and in senior male category Toufiq Ahmed, Mohd Wasim and Inderpal Singh bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd position repectively.
SP Poonch Shamsheer Hussain while speaking on the occasion exhorted the participants especially the youth to contribute positively to the society in eradication of various social evils like consumption of narcotic drugs, alcohol, casteism and untouchability.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Amit Gupta, ASP Poonch, Khalid Amin, DySP DAR, Deepak Digra, DySP Hqrs Poonch, Prof Musharaf Hussain Shah, Prof Shamim Ahmed Bandey, Khursheed Rather and S Narinder Talwar.
