UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: Three days District Open Table Tennis Championship, being organised by District Table Tennis Association in categories including sub-junior boys, junior boys & junior girls, commenced at Indoor Sports Hall, here today.
The championship is being organised under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association.
In sub-junior boys category, Aditya trounced Sachin by 2-1 sets and Madhav got better of Sahil by 2-1 sets, whereas in junior boys, Sparsh beat Archit Mahajan by 2-1 sets and Varun trounced Rudraksh by 2-0 sets.
In junior girls category, Gungun beat Suyesha by 2-1 sets and Palak defeated Vanshika by 2-0 sets.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sujit K Chauhan was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. He conveyed best wishes to all the participants.
Earlier, a floral tribute was paid to late Devinder Sharma (Munna Thanda) former general secretary of the Association, followed by incumbent general secretary of the Association, Tarun presented welcome address.
The matches were officiated by Maninder Manhas, Buneet Singh and Ruben Teji.
Vinod Kumar Baru president, Ankit Sharma joint secretary, Prikshit Khajuria treasurer, Sunny Sharma vice president, Akash Sharma executive member, Akhil Bandral executive member, Achhat Magotra, Sanjay Sharma and Amit Sharma also graced the function.
