JAMMU, May 26: The District Level Open Bocce Raffa Championship concluded today at JP World School with enthusiastic participation from athletes representing various schools and sports clubs across Jammu. The championship was organized by the Reffa Boules India Federation under the leadership of Secretary Sunny Nanda.
More than 120 athletes participated in the event, including players from Rich Harvest School, Jammu Sanskriti School, SD Tara Puri High School, Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Crescent Sports Club, Presentation Convent School and JP World School. The championship also witnessed participation of 25 special players.
Aijaz Qaiser, Joint Director Tourism, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Pooja Malhotra, founder patron of J&K Sports Speed Ball Association, attended as the guest of honour. Other distinguished guests present included Ankush Mahajan, Editor-in-Chief of Jammu Bulletin News; Tarun Uppal, president Reffa Boules India Federation; Amit Mahajan, MD Production House for TV Serials & Films; and Arpana Kohli, Principal of JP World School.
The chief guest distributed medals among the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz Qaiser said that Bocce Raffa is a sport for all sections of society, especially special children.
The vote of thanks was presented by Renu Devi, who announced that the winners of the championship have been selected for the upcoming Inter-State Championship to be held in Punjab.
Gold medal winners included Sanvi Sharma, Amoha Gupta, Nishtha Saini, Shreyansh, Pushap, Alvin, Shivansh Sharma, Sahil, Yagnik, Navangad, Arnav Choudhary, special child Anshvir Singh and Manan Sharma, besides Akriti.
Silver medal winners were Yuvika Pandita, Lavania Pandita, Bhavya, Sowyam, Royal Deep, Ranveer, Mandeep, Aarav Singh, Naman Rajput, special child Tejas Chargotra, Mohd Maaz, Viren Partap and Taalya.
Bronze medals were won by special child Jaisvi, Bhargavi, Divisha, Karanveer and Aariz Mushtaq.
