REASI, May 16: 2-day District Level Inter-School Fencing Championship for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls started, here today.
120 students of 15 institutions of district Reasi are taking part in the Championship.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB, Katra was the chief guest in the opening ceremony, while Col Mahinder Singh was the guest of honor.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the young fencers of Reasi who were the part of the national team which got overall third place in 59th National School Games at Jalna in Maharashtra. He assured the department of providing every possible support for the promotion of sports in the district.
Prominent among others present in the opening function were Pardeep Gupta, A.K. Chadda, Rakesh Sagotra and Ashwani Katoch.
Dr Swarn Singh Chib, DYSSO Reasi presented vote of thanks.
